Carlos Vela Biography

Carlos Alberto Vela Garrido born on March 1, 1989 in Cancun, Quintana Roo in Mexico is a wonderful Mexican footballer player. Carlos Alberto Vela Garrido better known as Carlos Vela plays for Mexico national team and played in Mexico U-17 and U-20 events. He is currently been on loan from Arsenal to Spanish La Liga club Osassuna. Earlier too he was loaned to two other Spanish La Liga clubs, Celta de Vigo and Salamanca.

Carlos Vela the magnificent striker began playing football at the age of thirteen with Mexican club Guadalajara youth team since 2002. After three years of play with the club, Carlos Vela moved to English Premier League giants, Arsenal in 2005. During 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship Carlos Vela played brilliantly for Mexico. His five goals spurred Mexico to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2005. In the end, Carlos Vela eventually walked away with the Golden Boot, which he dedicated to his loving father as a birthday gift to him. Incidentally Carlos Vela’s father celebrated his birthday on the day the Mexico beat Brazil 3-0 in the FIFA U-17 World Cup finals on October 2nd, 2005.

Carlos Vela’s incredible football skills came to the attention of several big clubs who competed against each other to sign him. Finally English Premier League club Arsenal won him out in November 2005 for a deal worth £2.5million. As English work-permit rules for non-Europeans prohibited him from playing in Arsenal, Carlos Vela was loaned to Spanish La Liga clubs. Carlos Vela is expecting his Spanish passport in early 2008 which is sufficient him to get his work permit in England to play for Arsenal.
