Kenwyne Jones Biography
Jones began his professional career with Joe Public FC in his native Trinidad, and moved to W Connection in 2002. He was purchased by Southampton in July 2004. He debuted with the Trinidad and Tobago national team January 29, 2003 in a game against Finland.
Jones went out on loan to Football League One club Sheffield Wednesday during December 2004. The loan finished on January 15 2005, however he quickly become a fan favourite with 7 goals in 7 games for the Owls. Following the successful loan spell, Wednesday manager Paul Sturrock failed in his attempts to sign Jones permanantly, offering only half of Southampton's original fund to bring him to the South Coast.
Following Southampton's relegation from the Premiership in May 2005 a number of competing forwards were sold and Jones has started season 2005/2006 as a key member of the squad with a responsibility for scoring the goals to make the Saints contenders for a return to the top flight.
