Pavel Nedved Biography
During his time in Italy, where he played for Lazio Roma and Juventus Torino, Pavel Nedved showed the World how far a little heart can go. He said it himself, he was never the most talented player on the pitch, nor the finest dribbler but he was always one of the players that ended the game exhausted, regardless of the result.
His hard but fair playing style, his decisiveness and most importantly the passion with which he battled for every ball, earned Nedved this biography.
Pavel Nedved Biography – Youth Career
Born in the town of Cheb, Pavel Nedved took up soccer early on and learned to love it ever since he was 5 years old. In 1977, his parents took him to a local youth club, TJ Skalna where he learnt the basics of soccer, as he spent 8 years at the club’s different youth teams.

When he was 13 years old, he moved to another club that had its headquarters near his town, namely RH Cheb.
Unfortunately, the following years wouldn't be stable enough for the young Czech, as he had to switch clubs thrice, going through Skoda Plzen for a few seasons, VTJ Tabor for a short while and finally settling for Dukla Praha at age 18.
At Dukla, Nedved was fast to make an impression and he only needed a single season at their youth club to convince the senior squad's coach that he is worthy for a place with the big boys.
Thus, becoming a professional soccer player, Pavel Nedved saw himself living his childhood dream and not only that, but he was now playing at one of the top teams in the Czech Republic (although Dukla Praha is not amongst the powers of the Czech league nowadays, it was very successful in the 60s and 70s and has one of the biggest trophy lists in the country).

Pavel Nedved Biography – Sparta Praha
Nedved's time with Dukla was short however, as he only played one season with the club, before being offered by another Czech giant, Sparta Praha.
It's here that Nedved earned a place in the national squad and during his 4 seasons with Sparta, he helped the team win 3 titles and a Cup.
Being an essential member of the national squad by now, Pavel Nedved helped the Czech Republic team reach the final stage of the European Championship in 1996 and although they lost the final, the team's great run attracted the interest of many of the top European clubs for Czech footballers. Lazio Roma was the most persistent in getting Nedved and so they did in 1996, right after the Euro.

Pavel Nedved Biography – Lazio Roma
Nedved's contact with the tough Serie A championship wasn't as big of a shock as it was for other players, mostly because he fit right in, with his enthusiastic, battle-prone playing style. He soon grabbed a first team spot at Lazio, where played most of the games in the 5 seasons with the Roman side.
Despite winning two trophies with his new club, namely the Italian Cup in 1998 and the Cup Winners Cup in 1999, Lazio was still a team that couldn't fight for the league or Champions League, so when Juventus made a 41 million euros offer to Lazio for Nedved, neither the club (who had some financial problems), nor the Czech player could refuse.
Pavel Nedved Biography – Juventus Torino
Before Nedved came to Juventus, he was considered a quality midfielder, but no one really thought of him as a super star. For most Italians, he was just another foreigner playing for a mid-table team like Lazio was at that time.
His move to Juventus and his first seasons there certified the fact that he is indeed a quality player, but even more, the move established him as an international star.
In 2003, Nedved was on top of his game and he helped Juventus reach the Champions League final, but he couldn't play the final himself, since he got one too many yellow cards in the second semi-final leg.
The moment when Nedved takes the yellow card and realizes that he will miss the final was caught on tape and is an emotional and memorable footage. Although Juventus lost the final, Nedved was crowned European Footballer of the Year and he was also in the run for World Footballer of the Year.
After the 2005-2006 Serie A match fixing scandals, Juventus got relegated to the second division and Nedved, along with other Juve long-timers such as Del Piero or Gianluigi Buffon, agreed to stay with the club even during these hard times and managed to bring Juventus back in the first league the following season.
For his loyalty to the club and for his commitment to winning every match through a fight, he is considered a legendary player in the Czech Republic and at Torino.
