Philipp Lahm Biography
No one really knew what to expect from Germany's national side at the last World Cup in 2006, as the team was comprised of a weird mix between relatively unknown players, of which one was Lahm at that time, and some already established stars.
If anyone was doubtful they will pull a disappointing run while playing at home, Lahm quickly ended the pessimism in Germany's first World Cup match, with a blazing goal that brought him in the attention of the entire world. Since then, he developed in an international class player, reason enough for me to write this Biography.
Philipp Lahm Biography – Youth Career
Born in Munich, Lahm went on to play for a local youth team called FT Gern Munich, where he spent the first two years of his career and where he learnt the basics of soccer.
Seeing potential in him, his parents took him over to the youth club of Bayern Munich when he was 12, Bayern welcoming him to one of the most prestigious youth facilities in Europe. From 1995 until 2003, Lahm skipped through most of the Bayern Munich junior squads, eventually coming into the attention of the first squad when he was 19.
Philipp Lahm Biography – VfB Stuttgart
At Bayern's senior team, although being considered an extremely talented footballer, Lahm would not be able to play often, as he was a substitute for one of the squad's most constant, experienced and important members, Bixente Lizarazu.
Therefore, Bayern decided to loan the youngster to VfB Stuttgart, who were in need of a quality left-back, where Lahm would be able to get some match experience and chisel his skills for top class football.
He spent two years at VfB Stuttgart, making some memorable matches and being one of the team's pylons in the 2 seasons that saw a spectacular comeback from the Stuttgart side, who are now fighting for the Bundesliga title on a yearly basis. But with Lizarazu's imminent retirement and with 2 seasons of top division experience behind him, Lahm was called back to Bayern in 2005.
