Rodrigo Pereira Possebon (born 13 February 1989 in Sapucaia do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul) is a Brazilian association football who plays as a midfielder for Manchester United F.C. in the English Premier League.
Rodrigo Possebon began his football career playing for Sport Club Internacional in a defensive midfield role. Possebon was spotted by Manchester United F.C.’s Brazil-based scout, John Calvert-Toulmin, who also recommended full-backs Fábio and Rafael Pereira da Silva (footballer born 1990).
He was signed by Manchester United in January 2008 for an estimated €3.5 million, and since his father is of Italian descent, Possebon qualified for an Italian passport, and so was not subject to European Union legislation regarding non-Europeans working in Europe. Possebon was allocated the number 34 shirt, which was vacated by Ryan Shawcross, for the remainder of the 2007-08 Premier League season.
